Cross training

Walking is a terrific form of exercise, but it shouldn’t be the only type of exercise you do. It’s important to do both aerobic workouts and strength-training workouts, along with flexibility exercises, whether in your daily life or when training for a race. And ideally, you should vary the type of aerobic exercise you do, such as walking, biking and more.

I received group fitness instruction certification from the American Council on Exercise (ACE). The ACE website is a terrific resource — visit it at www.acefitness.org.

There, you can find all manner of workouts if you need inspiration, or a change from your usual sets and moves. I’d be happy to work with you, too, to set up a workout plan. Click here.
